"HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles" (hondasfordsvolvo)

Ever since Need For Speed Most Wanted I’ve wanted a Clio V6. This one popped up on a JDM auction page on Facebook. Legal to import because Racecar. It’s actually a non raid legal factory built racecar.

Importing is one thing; is it legal to drive on the road?

It’s a racecar, so no. That said, Florida would probably give you a plate for it.

MN would too.

I’m confused now, so to import a car legally you just have to buy one that has no legal road homologation (ou maybe the VIN number removed from the chassis ?) and then you can just homologate it without any issue (on specific states) but one identical with a VIN number on the chassis would be destroyed if found ?

It would never actually
be legal to drive on the road. The point is that some states care little enough you could still get plates. The feds would still crush it.

But in the real world, does the feds really do that or it’s only a tale to scare the children?

It happens, but pretty much only for the cars that they look out for. So if you imported something pretty obscure that doesn’t draw attention and VIN swapped it you might get away with it but that is a federal crime. Just owning a non conforming car you are pretty much only liable for seizure.
I’ve seen a few illegal imports around but the Feds crush them not infrequently.

I don’t think race cars are legally cars since they generally don’t have VINs and aren’t intended for roads. The joke is that FL will register anything.

Factory rally cars comes with a VIN number and if i am not mistaken, some countries
require cars to be homologated and with a
ownership certificate to be able
to have it to drive between stages during a r
all
y
which is not the case (since 2012)
in France (as long as you are part of the event, meaning that your car is FIA or FFSA homologated
)
.

Very much no. You’d have to import as a track only car.

Yes there are exceptions for race cars, show cars. Things that will never be registered for road use

Ah yes, the Cliosport.
The last Renault I can remember caring about.
